3Lady Ubuntu Bowl Black on White

The Ubuntu Bowls are the signature product of Zizamele Ceramics. The African version of the friendship bowl, each of these bowls is wheel thrown from stoneware clay with skill and care.  

Three hand-modelled African clay figures arranged in a circle sit together on the bowl's rim as if in joyful conversation. They hold hands while they wear their traditional headscarves and have their babies tied to their backs in typical African fashion. Traditional patterns are painted in striking black glaze on white. 

In Africa, the definition of an individual is community-based and not individualist. Zizamele's Ubuntu pieces represent this philosophy.
