8Lady Ubuntu Bowl Black on White

This is the signature product of Zizamele Ceramics. The African version of the friendship bowl, each of these bowls is wheel thrown from stoneware clay with skill and care.  

Eight hand-modelled African clay figures arranged in a circle hold hands around the rim of the bowl. They wear their traditional headscarves and some have their babies tied to their backs in typical African fashion. Traditional patterns are painted in striking black glaze on white.  

In Africa, the definition of an individual is community-based and not individualist. The Ubuntu bowls with their women holding hands in a spirit of Ubuntu, represent this philosophy.
